Börzsöny is a compact mountain range in northern Hungary of volcanic origin and part of the North Hungarian Mountains. The range is heavily forested and is noted for its hiking trails and biodiversity.
Trails and forest roads cross a network of ridges and valleys; the highest summit, Csóványos, reaches 938 metres and features viewpoints and a small lookout structure. The area is used for day hiking, nature observation and short multi-day routes rather than alpine mountaineering.
The range developed through Miocene volcanism and has supported small rural settlements and forestry activities for centuries, with traditional villages at its margins that historically practised small-scale mining and timber work.
