Lomé-Tokoin Gnassingbé Eyadéma International Airport (LFW): Lomé’s airport is Togo’s primary international gateway. To get to Blitta you must continue by road: airport → Lomé bus/taxi terminal, then a long-distance shared taxi (taxi‑brousse) or intercity bus toward Sokodé/Blitta. Road travel from Lomé to Blitta typically takes 6-8 hours by bus or shared taxi; fares commonly range from about 5,000-10,000 XOF depending on vehicle type and comfort (express buses slightly higher).
Train: Togo has no extensive intercity passenger rail service that serves Blitta.
Bus / Taxi‑brousse: The normal route is by intercity bus or taxi‑brousse from Lomé north through central Togo (via Atakpamé/Tokoin junctions) to Sokodé and Blitta. Buses are affordable but journeys are long; shared taxis depart when full and offer a faster but less comfortable service.
How to Get Around Blitta #
Blitta is a regional market town where walking gets you around the centre; for longer distances you’ll rely on shared bush taxis (taxi-brousse) and motorcycle taxis. These options are inexpensive and frequent on main routes but slower and less comfortable than private vehicles. If you plan to travel across the Centrale region, allow time for connections and expect basic road conditions outside the main roads. Carry small change and pack water for longer journeys.
