Bilhorod-Dnistrovskyi fortress, often known historically as Akkerman Fortress, is a large medieval stronghold on the Dniester estuary in Odesa Oblast, Ukraine. It is one of the region’s principal surviving fortifications and a prominent historical landmark.
The site offers extensive remaining curtain walls, towers and an inner citadel that visitors can inspect on foot, with lengthy ramparts and stairways providing views over the estuary.
