Barva Volcano (Volcán Barva) is a forested volcanic complex in Heredia Province in central Costa Rica, part of the Central Volcanic Range. The summit area includes crater depressions and small crater lakes and supports montane and cloud forest habitats.
The upper slopes and crater areas lie within protected forest and conservation zones and are accessed by trails used for hiking and biological study. The volcano forms part of the volcanic landscape north of Costa Rica’s Central Valley and contributes to regional hydrology through its forested catchments.
Barva is located in Heredia Province, inland from the Caribbean-facing lowerlands and north of the metropolitan area of San José.

From Heredia city, drive north toward the Braulio Carrillo National Park access roads; local tour operators run guided visits from Heredia or San José. Some trails begin near the town of Barva; road access can be rough and a 4x4 is advisable.
