Northwestern Bahamas (Grand Bahama & Abacos)

April shifts toward fewer visitors than winter but still warm, with afternoons occasionally humid; Good Friday and Easter traditions can affect opening hours and local crowds. Boat charters to Blue Lagoon Island and snorkeling trips remain excellent as visibility improves; ferry desks tend to be less overwhelmed than in peak winter. Bring insect repellent for mangrove walks and a hat for midday sun; accommodation options on Andros are limited so plan ahead.

Southern Bahamas & Inagua (Long Island, Acklins, Crooked Island, Great Inagua)

April warms further with more humidity arriving; this is still shoulder season for the southern cays and a good time to visit before the heavier rains and heat of summer. Boat access to remote coves is generally reliable, and birding in Inagua is particularly rewarding as resident species are active. Bring light, breathable clothing, drinking water for day trips, and anticipate simple accommodations in many places.
