Baba Vida is a medieval fortress in the town of Vidin, in northwest Bulgaria, located on the Danube River. It is notable for being one of the most complete surviving medieval castles in the country.

The complex includes defensive walls, towers and a central keep, and it now houses museum displays about the site’s history and regional medieval heritage. The preserved ramparts and towers make it a clear example of Danubian frontier fortifications.

Constructed and modified in the Middle Ages, the fortress served defensive and administrative functions for local rulers and later states. Over time it has been conserved and adapted as a historic monument and museum site.

Baba Vida sits on the riverbank at Vidin, facing the Danube, and is integrated into the town’s waterfront area; it is reachable from Vidin’s centre and nearby transport links along the river corridor.
