Asukayama Park
Park Historic Tokyo park noted for cherry blossoms

Asukayama Park is a public park in Kita Ward, Tokyo, established in 1873 as one of Japan’s earliest government-designated public parks. It occupies a raised, tree-lined terrace above the surrounding streets.
The park is best known for its spring cherry blossoms and elevated promenades that offer views across the neighbourhood; several hundred sakura trees line the principal walkways and draw large crowds during hanami. There are also open lawns, playgrounds and small exhibition spaces that host local events and displays.
The site was designated a public park in 1873 under the Meiji government and has been adapted over time with terraces, paths and visitor facilities while retaining its historic tree cover. Modern additions include exhibitions and simple visitor amenities concentrated near the park entrances.
The park sits in northern Tokyo, immediately adjacent to Oji Station, making it a short walk from central transport links in the north of the city.
- Access: Reachable on foot from Oji Station, which is served by JR and Tokyo Metro lines making the park easy to visit from central Tokyo.
- Best time: Peak cherry blossom viewing is in late March to early April, when pathways and terraces fill with hanami visitors.
