Most nomads in Argentina live in Buenos Aires, but the country’s other cities offer wine, mountains, lakes and lower costs. This page compares five bases.
The costs are ballpark figures for a comfortable month for one person: a one-bedroom apartment on a monthly lease, eating out most days, coworking, transport and a social life. Argentine prices in dollars change quickly.

Buenos Aires#
One of the great cities of the world, with European-style boulevards, leafy Palermo and Recoleta, cafes, bookshops, theatre, tango and nightlife that starts after midnight. It has the country’s nomad community, coworking and best healthcare. See the Buenos Aires digital nomad guide.
Mendoza#
Wine capital at the foot of the Andes, sunny and calm, with vineyards, hiking and skiing nearby. See the Mendoza digital nomad guide.
Córdoba#
Argentina’s second city is a lively university town with colonial churches, a young population, low costs, and the Sierras de Córdoba hills for weekends. Few foreigners live here.
Bariloche#
A mountain town on Lake Nahuel Huapi in northern Patagonia, with chocolate shops, hiking, kayaking and skiing at Cerro Catedral. Summer and ski season are busy; spring and autumn are quiet. Internet is good in town.
Salta#
A colonial city in the northwest, gateway to colourful canyons, high desert and vineyards at Cafayate. It is cheap and relaxed, with dry, sunny winters.
Choosing Your Base#
- Start in Buenos Aires for community, services and easy setup.
- Head to Patagonia in summer (December to March) and the northwest in winter.
- Check internet before renting outside the big cities.
