The Angel of Peace (Friedensengel) is a late 19th-century commemorative monument in Munich’s Bogenhausen district, marked by a gilded angel figure atop a tall column. It functions as both a decorative column and a riverside viewpoint on the Isar river terrace.

A gilded winged figure crowns a high classical column and stands on a raised terrace reached by steps, creating an elevated viewing platform and a prominent urban landmark along Prinzregentenstrasse. The composition includes sculptural and architectural elements in a historicist style and is visible from the surrounding streets and riverbank.

The monument was erected in the late 19th century to mark a period of peace in the region and was conceived as a civic commemorative work; it has remained an urban landmark since its construction. Over time the terrace and steps have become a popular local spot for short visits and city views.

It is located on the eastern bank of the Isar river, along Prinzregentenstrasse in the Bogenhausen area of Munich, within easy reach of central Munich by public transport. The site overlooks the river and faces west toward central parts of the city.

• Viewpoint access: The monument sits on a riverside terrace and is reached by a short flight of steps, providing a clear elevated view over the Isar river and parts of the city.

Take the U4 or U5 metro lines to Lehel or Max-Weber-Platz and walk east along the Prinzregentenstraße toward the river Isar; the monument is a short uphill walk from either station. Several tram and bus lines also serve the Prinzregentenstraße corridor.

• Approach on foot from the Prinzregentenstraße for the classic view; the riverside promenade also offers a gentler angle.
• Visit the terrace at sunset for a bench and a skyline that includes the Isar and the city beyond.
• The site is outdoors and unfenced; wear sensible footwear for the park paths.
