How to Get to Ancón, Panama#

Ancón is a district of Panama City (home to Miraflores Locks and parts of the former Canal Zone) and is best reached via Tocumen (international) or Albrook (domestic). From central Panama City use the Metro to Albrook then a short taxi or bus to Ancón.

By Air

Tocumen International Airport (PTY): PTY is Panama’s main international gateway. From Tocumen a taxi or ride-hail to central Panama City takes about 25-40 minutes (typical fare US$25-35). For a slightly cheaper option, use shared airport shuttles or buses to the city.

Albrook “Marcos A. Gelabert” Airport (PAC): Albrook handles domestic flights and is adjacent to the Albrook bus terminal and Metro Line 1. If arriving on a domestic flight, you’re already within the city and a short Metro or taxi trip will take you to Ancón.

By Train & Bus

Train / Metro: Panama City’s Metro Line 1 runs through Albrook (a major transport hub); fares are around US$0.35-0.50 per trip. From Albrook/Metro stations you can take a short taxi or bus to the Ancón district and the Miraflores Locks area.

Bus: Albrook Bus Terminal offers routes across the city and to suburbs; local buses and taxis connect Ancón with central districts. Bus and Metro combined are the cheapest way to reach Ancón from many parts of Panama City.

How to Get Around Ancón, Panama#

Use Tocumen for international arrivals and transfer to the city by taxi or shuttle, then switch to the Metro (Albrook) and local buses/taxis to reach Ancón. The Metro is the fastest budget option inside Panama City.
