How to Get to Aguilita
Aguilita (Juana Díaz barrio-pueblo) is best reached by road from Ponce or San Juan; the Ponce Mercedita (PSE) airport is the closest for commercial flights. For flexibility, use a rental car or taxi/ride-hail for final access to barrio-level locations.
Mercedita/Ponce (PSE) or Luis Muñoz Marín (SJU): For Juana Díaz-area arrivals (Aguilita) the nearest commercial airport is Ponce Mercedita Airport (PSE) - a short drive from Juana Díaz. San Juan’s SJU is the main international gateway if PSE flight options don’t suit. From either airport, taxis or rental cars are the usual ways to reach small barrios (Ponce→Juana Díaz ≈ 20-40 minutes; SJU→Juana Díaz ≈ 1-1.5 hours).
Smaller airfields: Regional air options into Ponce are limited; most visitors use PSE or SJU.
Train: There is no intercity passenger rail in Puerto Rico.
Bus / public transport: Intercity bus service in the south (Ponce corridor) is limited compared with the San Juan metro. Local public buses and private guaguas operate between Ponce and nearby towns; fares are low but services are infrequent-expect to combine bus travel with a short taxi or ride-hail leg to reach small barrios like Aguilita.
