8 Spruce (also known as New York by Gehry) is a high-rise residential building in Lower Manhattan designed by Frank Gehry. It is known for a sculpted stainless-steel facade and for being one of the tallest residential towers downtown when completed.
The building houses apartments with a range of unit types and includes ground-floor retail and residential amenities. Its façade’s undulating metal panels are a distinctive feature that changes with light and viewing angle.
The project was completed in the early 2010s and contributed to the revitalisation of the area around the Brooklyn Bridge and City Hall Park. It is located on Spruce Street near the intersection with the Manhattan street grid’s lower avenues.
