Sorsogon Travel Guide

Situated on the tip of the Bicol Peninsula, Sorsogon is a great place to stay if you plan to visit the pretty islands of Samar or Ticao.

Most people visit Sorsogon to swim with the magnificent Donsol whale sharks, which are known locally as butanding. Sorsogon is an area of intense natural beauty and there are a good number of beautiful islands to explore and beaches to chill out on such as Rizal, Tolong-Gapo and Libanon Beach.

When it comes to food, fresh fish is easy to find and simply delicious, prepared in both the traditional Filipino style and also barbecued on the beach. Take a night boat trip through the mangroves to watch the fireflies for a magical, fairy tale experience and walk along the beach at sunset.

Getting There & Away

The easiest way to get to Sorsogon is by flying from Manila, with its international airport, to the city of Legaspi (50 minutes) and then taking a bus from Legaspi (one hour). There are also regular buses from Manila (about five hours) and other parts of the Philippines.
