Although many people just pause here for an hour or two before heading off to the big city of Yogyakarta, those who choose to spend the night here will find plenty to see and do. There are a couple of beaches perfect for swimming and sunbathing, which the jungle is ideal for trekking. Those who decide to spend the night will find plenty of good accommodation and home cooking at the town's restaurants.

A great way to explore the area is by taking the ferry service from Pangandaran along the back waters, stopping in at ports such as Wonosobo and eventually ending up at Yogyakarta or Bandung.

Travel to Pangandaran - Getting There

Pangandaran is located conveniently close to Yogyakarta, where there is an international airport. There are regular buses running from Yogyakarta (6 hours) as well as Bandung (6 hours) and Tasikmalaya (3 hours). There is also a ferry that runs between Yogyakarta and Bandung, calling in at Pangandaran (10 hours).
