Bang Niang Travel Guide

A picture perfect beach resort in the area of Khao Lak in Phang-Nga Province, Bang Niang has undergone something of a transformation in recent years from a backpacker destination to a fine away-from-it-all beach resort in its own right.

While it may have developed, Bang Niang isn’t overcrowded, or even crowded. A number of resorts overlook the beach from the coastline, longtail boats patrol the shore looking to taxi visitors to other nearby beaches and the Andaman Sea seems to go on forever.

The main attraction of the area is its stunning beach, beautiful clear waters offering snorkeling and scuba diving opportunities, boat trips to nearby islands and sailing.

Getting There & Away

Khao Lak is quite remote, something which many people like about it. The closest airport is at Phuket, a 1-hour flight from Bangkok followed by a transfer of around 1 hour by shuttle bus or taxi. It is possible to drive directly to Khao Lak from Bangkok along National Highway 4, but this takes around 11 hours.
