Zürich Zoologischer Garten (Zurich Zoo) is the principal zoological park of Zürich, Switzerland, established in 1929 and occupying a sizable landscaped site on the city’s edge. The zoo integrates outdoor enclosures with large indoor biomes, including a rainforest hall that opened in the early 21st century.

Collections focus on conservation and public education with exhibit areas for primates, large mammals, birds and exotic reptiles. The Masoala Rainforest hall is a signature feature that houses free-roaming birds, lemurs and tropical plants under a large glass-roofed dome.

The zoo has expanded and modernized its facilities since its founding, adding themed habitats and conservation-oriented breeding programs. It is operated by the Zoological Garden Zürich foundation and regularly updates exhibits to meet contemporary animal welfare standards.

The site is in the Fluntern quarter of Zürich, accessible by tram and a short distance from the city centre.

By car the zoo is a few kilometres east of the city centre (Zürich HB) on the Zürichberg - there is on-site parking at the zoo.

• Head straight to the Masoala Rainforest hall and the Kaeng Krachan Elephant Park soon after opening-those major attractions draw large mid-day crowds and are more pleasant early.
• Check the zoo's website for timed special experiences or keeper talks and reserve these if possible; planning around them lets you avoid clustered crowds and see highlights with explanation.
• If the weather is good, start on the outdoor enclosures and finish in the large indoor halls (rainforest, apes) when they tend to be busiest; many visitors do the reverse and encounter lines.
