Zhangjiajie Glass Bridge
Building Suspended glass bridge spanning canyon with dramatic views
Spanning Zhangjiajie Grand Canyon, the glass bridge hangs between cliffs with a transparent floor; visitors test their nerves for vertigo‑inducing views, photograph the canyon and use nearby cable cars and walking trails.
The Zhangjiajie Glass Bridge is a public pedestrian glass-bottom bridge spanning the Zhangjiajie Grand Canyon in Hunan province, China. It opened in 2016 and was constructed as a dramatic viewpoint with a transparent walking surface over the canyon.
The bridge is notable for its length and height above the canyon - the span is roughly 430 metres long, sits about 300 metres above the canyon floor and is approximately 6 metres wide. The central glass-floor section provides direct views into the gorge below and is the main draw for visitors.
After opening the structure was briefly closed for additional safety checks following very large crowds and has since operated with timed-entry and visitor limits to manage numbers. The site includes ticketed access, walkways and viewing platforms at each end of the span.
The bridge is located within the Zhangjiajie Grand Canyon area in Zhangjiajie city’s wider scenic region in Hunan province, roughly within easy driving distance of Zhangjiajie city and the Zhangjiajie National Forest Park.
