The Zawiya and Sabil of Farag ibn Barquq is a Mamluk-era funerary and charitable complex in historic Cairo associated with the sultan Faraj (Farag) ibn Barquq from the early 15th century.
Commissioned by or for the Mamluk ruler Faraj ibn Barquq, the complex was built as a funerary and charitable foundation, a common practice among Mamluk elites. It has survived as one of several Qurayshi and Burji period structures that illustrate the period’s urban patronage and architectural vocabulary.
The complex stands in Cairo’s historical urban core among other Mamluk and medieval monuments and is part of the dense architectural fabric of historic Islamic Cairo.
