About Yamdena

Yamdena is the largest island of the Tanimbar Islands in Indonesia’s Maluku province and serves as a local administrative and cultural centre for the archipelago. The island comprises coastal villages, cultivated land and inland hills.

Visitors may encounter traditional Tanimbar timber houses, local markets and village life; outdoor activities include coastal fishing and exploring nearby smaller islands. The island has long-standing Austronesian settlement and local cultural practices.

Yamdena lies in the Banda Sea region of eastern Indonesia as part of the Maluku island chain, within Maluku province.
