How to Get to Whampoa
Whampoa (Kowloon City District) is best reached via Hong Kong International Airport (HKG) and onward by MTR (Whampoa station on the Kwun Tong Line), bus or taxi. The area is well connected to central Kowloon and convenient for short-city travel.
Hong Kong International Airport (HKG): The main gateway for reaching Whampoa (Kowloon City District). Airport Express to Kowloon Station takes about 24 minutes (Kowloon fare HK$115); from there take MTR/bus/taxi to Whampoa (taxi from airport to Whampoa ≈25-35 minutes, HK$250-300).
Shenzhen Bao’an Airport (SZX): Some travellers use Shenzhen and cross the border into Hong Kong; expect total transfer times of 1.5-3 hours including cross-border procedures.
Train: Whampoa is served by Whampoa station on the Kwun Tong Line of the MTR. The MTR provides fast links across Kowloon and into Hong Kong Island with typical in-city fares of HK$4-12.
Bus: Numerous KMB and Citybus routes serve the Whampoa area and the nearby Hung Hom / Ma Tau Wai corridors; buses are useful for short surface journeys and night services when needed.
How to Get Around Whampoa #
Whampoa is a residential and commercial neighbourhood in Kowloon. Whampoa MTR station (the area’s rail link) and numerous buses and minibuses make it easy to get around; taxis are available as well. The area around the ferry pier and shopping complexes is pedestrian-friendly for short trips.
