How to Get to Westmount#

Westmount is an affluent, built-up borough of Montreal with strong public-transit links to downtown via STM buses and nearby metro stations. It’s quickest to arrive from Trudeau Airport by taxi or airport bus then use local transit for shorter hops.

By Air

Montréal-Trudeau International Airport (YUL): The main international airport serving Montreal and Westmount. From YUL you can take buses, taxis or ride-hailing into Westmount - drive time is around 20-35 minutes depending on traffic. The 747 Express bus to downtown has been a common option (fare has changed over time); check STM for current fares and payment methods.

Montréal-Mirabel / regional airports: Mirabel is no longer a major passenger airport; international connections use YUL for scheduled services to Westmount/Montréal.

By Train & Bus

Train / Metro: Westmount is served by Montreal’s metro (STM) via nearby Angrignon/Monk/Atwater stations depending on exact location; the closest STM metro access for much of Westmount is Atwater (green line) and Guy-Concordia area. Commuter trains (Exo) also serve nearby stations for greater Montreal suburbs.

Bus: STM buses serve Westmount extensively; local routes connect the borough to downtown Montreal, the metro network and neighbourhoods. A typical bus ride across town is 10-25 minutes depending on origin; fares are per STM rules.

  • STM metro & buses (CAD ~3.50 (single fare; check current rates)) - The STM bus network and the Montreal Metro provide the most reliable public transport for Westmount. Use the Green Line (Atwater) or nearby stations and transfer to buses for internal journeys. Frequent services during daytimes make transit convenient.
  • Exo commuter trains (CAD (varies by zone)) - Exo regional/commuter trains serve greater Montreal and connect with STM. They are useful if coming from outer suburbs; transfer to buses or metro to reach Westmount.
  • 747 / airport bus & shuttles (CAD (check STM current fare)) - The airport express service (historically the 747) links YUL with downtown and connects to buses/metro; fares and ticketing have changed-check STM for the current fixed-price options and schedules.
  • Taxi / rideshare (CAD ~30-60 from YUL to Westmount (typical)) - Taxis and rideshare (Uber, Lyft where available) are plentiful for door-to-door travel from the airport or around town; convenient for luggage and late arrivals.
  • Bicycle / BIXI (BIXI passes / pay-as-you-go (varies)) - Westmount is bike-friendly with separated lanes in parts and BIXI (bike-share) stations nearby in Montreal. Good for short hops around the borough and to adjacent downtown areas.
