History & Culture of Wat Hua Khuang#

The diminutive Wat Hua Khuang sits in downtown Nan near Wat Phra That Chang Kham and is noted for its Lanna-style architecture and wood carvings. Dating from the 1500s and restored in the 1800s and again in the 1900s, it is one of the best-preserved old temples in Nan.

Highlights. It boasts an ancient stupa with four niches, each holding a Buddha image, and a recently restored scripture library covered in reflective glass mosaic. Inside the main building are a carved ceiling and a fine wooden altar, with an all-wood verandah out front. Most impressive of all is the front gable, with its stunning carvings.
