Wadköping

Wadköping is an open-air museum and preserved historic quarter in Örebro, Sweden, recreating an older wooden townscape. It presents vernacular buildings and urban street scenes from the region.

The site groups timber houses, small shops, a restored schoolroom and craft demonstrations to illustrate life in past centuries. There are craft workshops, small museum rooms and a café-style visitor service during the main season.

Buildings were relocated and assembled on this site in the mid-20th century to protect Örebro’s older wooden architecture and create an educational historic district. The arrangement is intended to show urban and domestic life rather than preserve a single continuous original street.

The museum sits close to Örebro city centre near the Svartån river and Örebro Castle, within a short walk of central amenities and public transport.
