Volcán San Pedro is a conical stratovolcano on the western shore of Lake Atitlán in the Sololá Department of Guatemala. It rises steeply from the lakeshore and is a dominant geographic feature on the lake’s western side.
The volcano reaches an elevation of approximately 3,020 metres above sea level and towers roughly 1,400 metres above the surface of Lake Atitlán. Hikers commonly ascend from the nearby town of San Pedro La Laguna; the route is steep and offers broad views over the lake and the surrounding volcanic landscape.
San Pedro is a Holocene stratovolcano and is part of the chain of volcanoes that line the Guatemalan highlands; it is primarily of interest today for its prominent profile and hiking opportunities.
