Vitznau on Lake Lucerne is most conveniently reached via Zurich Airport with a direct SBB train to Lucerne and then a short, scenic boat or local rail/bus connection to Vitznau. The lake boat is the recommended arrival for the best combination of convenience and scenery.

By Air

Zurich Airport (ZRH): Zurich is the main international gateway for central Switzerland. From ZRH take an SBB train to Lucerne (about 1 hour, typical fare CHF 20-35) and then continue to Vitznau by boat or regional train. The boat from Lucerne to Vitznau takes about 50-60 minutes and fares are commonly CHF 18-35 depending on boat type and season; combined rail+boat tickets are available.

Geneva Airport (GVA): Geneva is further away (about 3-4 hours by rail) and not the most direct option, but has regular rail links to Lucerne and onward connections to Vitznau via Lucerne (train + boat or local connections). Expect longer travel times and higher fares than via Zurich.
