An extensive open-air sculpture installation in Oslo displaying more than 200 works by the sculptor Gustav Vigeland, situated inside Frogner Park. It is the world’s largest sculpture park created by a single artist.
The layout leads from an entrance across a long bridge lined with sculpted groups to a central plaza with a prominent carved monolith, fountains and landscaped paths; the sculptures depict human figures in varied poses and life stages. The park covers a large urban green area and is used both as a cultural attraction and recreational space by locals and tourists.
The sculptures were designed and executed by Gustav Vigeland during the early to mid 20th century; the artist developed the master plan for the park and installed his works over several decades. The city later incorporated the installation into Frogner Park as a major public artwork.
Located in the Frogner neighbourhood of Oslo, the park sits west of the city centre and is easily reached by tram and bus from central Oslo.
