Vietnamese Women's Museum

The Vietnamese Women’s Museum in Hanoi is a city museum dedicated to the lives, roles and cultural expressions of women across Vietnam. It is one of the few museums in the country focused specifically on gender and women’s history.

Exhibition themes document family life, work, community roles and women’s participation in national events, alongside displays of traditional costumes, textiles and everyday objects. Temporary exhibitions and photographic displays often supplement the permanent collection to highlight contemporary issues and research.

The museum was created to collect and present material on women’s social, cultural and economic contributions and its collections expanded through donations and fieldwork. Over time it has served both as a public museum and a research resource on gender and material culture in Vietnam.

It sits in central Hanoi’s Hoan Kiem district on Ly Thuong Kiet street, within easy walking distance of the Old Quarter and other central landmarks.
