VietJet Air is a Vietnamese low-cost airline that presents itself to travelers as a budget-focused, point-to-point carrier offering low base fares with a la carte add-ons. From a passenger perspective, expect basic onboard service, optional paid extras for baggage, seat selection, priority boarding and onboard food, and a model geared toward short- and medium-haul travel across Vietnam and the wider region.

The airline primarily serves domestic markets and regional international routes around Asia from its Hanoi (Noi Bai) and Ho Chi Minh City (Tan Son Nhat) bases. It is not part of a major airline alliance and generally has a more limited partner network than full-service carriers.

Where VietJet Air Flies

VietJet operates as a point-to-point low-cost carrier from its main Vietnamese bases at Noi Bai (HAN) and Tan Son Nhat (SGN), focusing on domestic services within Vietnam and short- to medium-haul international routes across East and Southeast Asia. The carrier runs frequent domestic frequencies and a network of regional international routes; it may also operate seasonal or charter services. VietJet is not a member of a major global airline alliance and has limited codeshare/interline reach compared with full-service carriers.

Tips for Flying VietJet Air

  • Lowest fares generally exclude checked baggage and seat selection, so add these at booking if you need them.
  • Use the airline’s website or mobile app to check in and select seats in advance to avoid airport fees and long lines.
  • Treat connections on separate tickets as unprotected-allow plenty of time or book a single itinerary if you need guaranteed transfers.
  • Expect buy-on-board snacks and drinks on most flights and consider pre-ordering meals on longer sectors if that option is offered.
