Vidra Lake

Vidra Lake is an artificial reservoir on the Lotru River in Vâlcea County, Romania, created by a dam and used for hydroelectric power. It forms part of the Lotru hydroelectric system.

The reservoir is set in a mountain valley and is used for power generation as well as recreational activities such as fishing and hiking around its shores. Visitors commonly base themselves in the nearby town of Voineasa when accessing the area.

The lake was formed when the river was impounded to create the hydroelectric reservoir, and since then it has been managed as part of the regional energy infrastructure.

Vidra Lake sits in the Lotru valley in the southern Carpathians of Vâlcea County, near the town of Voineasa and surrounded by mountain terrain.
