Vidova gora Mountain

Vidova gora is the highest mountain on the island of Brač in Croatia, with its summit at 778 metres above sea level. It is the highest island peak in the central Adriatic and a well-known destination for hikers and cyclists.

The summit offers expansive views over the Adriatic Sea and nearby islands, including vistas of Hvar and the mainland city of Split when visibility is good. Routes to the summit start near the town of Bol and vary from paved roads to marked hiking trails.

The mountain is frequented for day hikes, mountain biking and scenic drives, and is valued for its limestone slopes and Mediterranean vegetation. Access is from Brač island’s road network, with Bol being the nearest settlement commonly used as a base for excursions.

Vidova gora sits on the southern side of Brač, above the coastal town of Bol, in Split-Dalmatia County. The island is reached by ferry from the Dalmatian mainland and the peak is typically visited on day trips from local ports.

Vidova gora (the highest peak on the island of Brač) is most easily reached from Split: take the Jadrolinija car ferry from Split to Supetar (or a seasonal passenger catamaran direct to Bol), then drive across Brač to Bol and follow the local road up toward the Vidova gora viewpoint. From the road above Bol the summit is a short, steep hike (typically minutes to half an hour depending on route and fitness) from the roadside parking/viewpoint.

• Visit late afternoon for the best views: the summit lookout gives the clearest panorama of Bol and the famous Zlatni Rat beach, especially striking in the low-angle light near sunset.
• If you're coming from Bol, plan your ascent/descent around the less busy times (early morning or late afternoon) to avoid the midday tourist rush that concentrates in town and at the viewpoint.
• Park or start from the recognized access road/trailhead used by local hikers and cyclists - the short drive plus a brief walk leads to the main viewpoint, which many day-trippers underestimate in the time they allot.
