How to Get to Vernazza
Vernazza is best reached by train on the regional coastal line; the village's small station sits on the Genoa-Pisa route and is the most convenient arrival point. Major nearby airports are Pisa (PSA) and Genoa (GOA); from either airport you continue by shuttle and Trenitalia regional trains.
Pisa International Airport (Galileo Galilei) (PSA): PSA is a common entry for Cinque Terre. Take the Pisa Mover or airport shuttle to Pisa Centrale (10-15 min) and then a regional train toward La Spezia; total travel time to Vernazza is typically 1.5-2 hours. Regional train fares (Pisa Centrale → La Spezia → Vernazza) are usually in the low euros (single regional legs from ~€4-12 depending on route).
Genoa Cristoforo Colombo Airport (GOA): From Genoa airport take the airport shuttle (Volabus) or a taxi to Genova Brignole/Principe (20-30 min) then a regional train on the Genoa-Pisa line toward La Spezia/Levanto; total journey to Vernazza is commonly ~1.5-2 hours. Combined shuttle + regional-train fares are typically in the €10-25 range.
Train: Vernazza has its own station (Vernazza) on the Genoa-Pisa coastal line, served by Trenitalia regionale services. From La Spezia Centrale the regional train to Vernazza takes about 12-20 minutes; from Levanto about 8-12 minutes. Single regional tickets between nearby towns commonly cost a few euros (often €2-€7).
Bus / Local shuttles: Local buses exist but regional trains and ferries are the practical options for Cinque Terre. During high season some shuttle services run; check local timetables. The Cinque Terre Train Card gives flexible train access across the villages and is a convenient option for multiple stops.
