The stadium’s capacity is about 43,000 for football events and it can accommodate significantly larger crowds for concerts when field standing is used. It has staged major international sporting events and high-profile music performances since opening.
The arena was completed in 1958 to host matches of the World Cup and has been rebuilt and modernised in subsequent decades to meet evolving safety and comfort standards. It remains one of Sweden’s principal large-capacity stadiums.

How to Get to Ullevi #
Ullevi stadium is in Gothenburg (Göteborg) next to the Korsvägen transport hub. Tram services (for example Tram lines 6 and 8) stop at Korsvägen; from that stop it’s a 5-10 minute walk to Nya Ullevi. From Göteborg Central station take a short tram ride to Korsvägen (or a 2-3 km drive via the E6/E20 city routes) and follow pedestrian signs to the stadium.
Tips for Visiting Ullevi #
- Use Gothenburg's public transport on event days-trams to Korsvägen or the Ullevi stops (Ullevi Nord/Ullevi Södra) are the easiest way to avoid the heavy car traffic and limited parking around the stadium.
- Arrive well before an event or stay a little later to avoid the biggest crushes on the trams; the surrounding Korsvägen transport hub gives plenty of space to spread arrival and departure times.
- If attending a concert or big match, check the event organiser's information on gate openings and bag rules in advance-security checks are routine and queues form quickly at peak times.
