About Ukraine State Aviation Museum#
The Ukraine State Aviation Museum is an aviation museum on the outskirts of Kyiv that displays military and civil aircraft, helicopters and aviation artifacts. The museum’s collection is presented largely in an open-air setting on former airfield space.
Visitors can see a range of Soviet-era and post-Soviet aircraft types and related equipment laid out across the museum grounds, along with indoor exhibits of smaller items and engines. The site is aimed at aviation enthusiasts and offers close-up views of airframes and cockpits.
The museum’s collection was assembled from decommissioned aircraft and aviation equipment during and after the Soviet period and the museum was established to preserve and display these items for public education and research.
It is located on the western outskirts of Kyiv, near the main westbound road corridors out of the city, within Kyiv Oblast and accessible from the city by road.
- Outdoor exhibits: Most of the collection is displayed outdoors on the airfield, so plan for weather and allow time to walk between aircraft.
What to See#
- Outdoor aircraft park: Extensive outdoor park where the majority of larger aircraft and helicopters are displayed on the tarmac and lawns.
- Exhibition hall: Indoor exhibition space containing engines, smaller artifacts and interpretive panels that supplement the outdoor displays.
