How to Get to Tutume#
Tutume is a town in Botswana’s Central District best reached via Francistown (FRW) by road. Shared minibuses and private taxis are the usual onward transport; Gaborone is much farther and used when coming from the south.
Francistown Airport (FRW): Francistown is the nearest regional airport for Tutume. From Francistown you can travel to Tutume by shared minibus or taxi; the road transfer is relatively short compared with long trunk routes-minibuses are inexpensive and taxis faster but costlier.
Sir Seretse Khama International (GBE): Gaborone’s airport can be used by visitors who then travel north by road to Tutume, but this is a long overland journey (several hours) and is less common than arriving via Francistown for eastern Central District destinations.
Intercity minibuses / buses: Shared minibuses depart from Francistown Bus Rank toward Tutume and other local towns; fares are low and schedules depart when vehicles fill. Travel times from Francistown to Tutume commonly fall under 2 hours depending on route and stops.
Train: There is no direct passenger rail serving Tutume; overland bus and taxi travel are the standard options.

- Private taxi / transfer (BWP 300-900) - Private taxis provide a direct and quicker transfer from Francistown or surrounding towns. They are convenient for groups or those with luggage-confirm prices before departure.
- Intercity coach (BWP 50-200) - Some scheduled coaches serve longer trunk routes and may stop at larger towns near Tutume; coaches are more comfortable for long journeys but may require a short connection to reach Tutume proper.
