Turtle Tower is a small commemorative tower located on a tiny islet in the middle of Hoan Kiem Lake in central Hanoi. The structure is an easily recognisable visual symbol of the city and is often depicted in photographs and art.
The tower is a multi-storey masonry structure set on an islet and is visible from the lakeside promenade; it is not generally open for interior access by visitors. The lakeside area around the tower and the nearby Ngoc Son Temple are popular for walking and photography.
The tower was built in the late 19th century and is associated with the Hoan Kiem Lake legend involving a returned sword and the Golden Turtle God; it serves as a visual memorial rather than as an active religious site.
