Trukhaniv Island

Trukhaniv Island is a long, low island in the Dnipro River within Kyiv city limits, used primarily as an urban recreational area. It is one of Kyiv’s principal riverside green spaces.

The island offers beaches, riverfront promenades, picnic areas and sports fields, with walking and cycling routes that run along its length. Seasonal activities include sunbathing and informal swimming at the river beaches and events on open lawns.

Historically part of Kyiv’s river landscape, the island has been used for recreation since at least the 20th century and has seen progressive development of paths, small amenities and leisure infrastructure. It remains managed as a public recreational space.

Located on the Dnipro River opposite central districts of Kyiv, the island is reached by several bridges and sits within the urban area of the city.

• Head away from the main beach strips into the island's wooded interior and quieter riverbanks if you want secluded spots for birdwatching or picnics that many visitors overlook.
