Nomadic Samuel
Practical, personal travel guides and stories from Samuel Jeffery and Audrey Bergner.
About Nomadic Samuel
Nomadic Samuel is the travel project of Samuel Jeffery, often joined by his wife Audrey Bergner. It began as a scrappy travel diary in Penang and grew into a broader travel publishing site with blogs, videos and niche projects, while the couple splits their time between Canada and Argentina. The site has expanded to more than 850 posts and publishes daily, averaging about thirty posts a month. They produce travel guides, city and food guides, hiking guides and videos, and the posts are illustrated with many original photos rather than stock imagery.
What makes Nomadic Samuel distinct is its blend of down-to-earth humour and meticulous, boots-on-the-ground planning. We enjoy the authorial voice - chatty, practical and occasionally unhinged - and the way Samuel narrates plans with Audrey in tow, like the two-day Hakodate itinerary that reads like travelling with a knowledgeable friend. Articles are long and granular, full of transport tips, timing advice and neighbourhood comparisons, and the posts come with plenty of photos. The site is extremely active, turning out roughly thirty new pieces a month, so there is always fresh, location-specific reading to dig into.
