About Trausnitz Castle#
Trausnitz Castle is a medieval hilltop castle overlooking the town of Landshut in Bavaria that served as a ducal residence for the Wittelsbach dynasty. It occupies a commanding position above the town and is a major historic monument in the region.
The complex includes fortified walls, residential wings and ceremonial rooms that together reflect the castle’s role as both a defensive stronghold and a princely residence. Over the centuries the castle has been adapted and partially rebuilt to serve changing residential and administrative needs.
