Toolse Castle is a ruined 15th-century crusader fortress on the northern Estonian coast in Lääne-Viru County. It was constructed by the Livonian Order and stands on a rocky shoreline overlooking the Gulf of Finland.
Remains of thick curtain walls and portions of the castle’s tower set on a coastal headland, offering views across the Gulf of Finland. The site is an open ruin where visitors can inspect masonry remains and the defensive layout typical of Livonian Order strongholds.
Erected in the 15th century by the Livonian (Teutonic) Order as a defensive and trading post, the castle fell into disuse in the early modern period and was gradually ruined. Conservation work in recent decades has stabilized surviving masonry for public access.
