How to Get to Tizi Ouzou

Tizi Ouzou is reached primarily by road from nearby airports and regional bus hubs; the closest airport is Soummam-Abane Ramdane (BJA) with Algiers (ALG) the main international gateway. There is no direct rail service into the town, so most arrivals transfer to intercity buses, shared "grand taxis" or private cars for the last leg.

By Air

Soummam-Abane Ramdane Airport (BJA): The nearest airport, serving Béjaïa and the Kabylie region. From BJA you can take a shared or private taxi to Tizi Ouzou (approx. 1-1.5 hours depending on traffic). Typical taxi fares are roughly 2,000-5,000 DZD (≈12-35 EUR); renting a car is also common and drives take about 1-1.5 hours.

Houari Boumediene Airport (ALG): Algiers’ international airport is the largest serving the region and is the best option for more international connections. Road travel from ALG to Tizi Ouzou takes about 1.5-2.5 hours by private taxi or rental car.
