A one-way ticket Zurich Airport-Tiefencastel is typically CHF 40-70 depending on connections and seat reservations.
Bern/Zurich regional airports: Bern-Belp (BRN) and St. Gallen-Altenrhein (ACH) have fewer international services; connections via Bern or Zurich by train add time and require transfers to RhB services to reach Tiefencastel (total travel times vary widely).

- SBB/InterCity (CHF 20-70 (ZRH-Chur segment)) - Longer-distance travel from Zurich, Bern or Geneva uses SBB InterCity/IR services into Chur, where you transfer to RhB. Bookings and Swiss Travel Pass options can reduce costs for tourists. Trains are fast and comfortable with luggage space.
- PostAuto bus (CHF 2-10) - Local PostAuto buses connect smaller villages to Tiefencastel station. They are inexpensive and timed to meet train services, but frequency drops on weekends and evenings. Handy for last-mile travel into hamlets and walking trailheads.
- Taxi (CHF 30-80 (short transfers)) - Taxis cover routes not well served by public transport (early/late journeys or heavy luggage). They are convenient but can be costly in remote alpine areas - confirm the fare beforehand.
- Car hire (CHF 60-120/day) - Renting a car gives maximum freedom for exploring the Graubünden region, nearby passes and valleys. Roads are well maintained; winter tyres or chains may be required in snow. Check mountain road conditions in winter.
