Three Crosses
Monument Hilltop monument commemorating Lithuanian resistance and history
Above Vilnius Old Town, the Three Crosses monument crowns a park hill as a 20th-century reconstruction of an older memorial. Visitors hike up for broad city views and to trace local historical memory.
The Three Crosses is a monument on a hill in Kalnai Park overlooking Vilnius Old Town and the Neris River valley, widely recognised as a symbol of the city. The current sculptural group was erected in 1989 and serves as a prominent vantage point.
Earlier iterations of crosses on this site date back centuries and a concrete monument by Antoni Wiwulski stood in the early 20th century before being demolished under Soviet rule. The present monument was commissioned and unveiled in the late 20th century as part of the restoration of national symbols.
The site is accessible by paths and steps from the city and is a popular short walk for views and photographs, especially at sunset and in clear weather.
The hill stands within Kalnai Park just above the historic centre of Vilnius in Lithuania.
