Thien Duong Cave (Paradise Cave, Hang Thiên Đường) is a large limestone cave in Phong Nha-Kẻ Bàng National Park in central Vietnam, discovered and surveyed in the mid-2000s. It is one of the park’s largest and most-visited showcaves with long internal galleries and extensive speleothem formations.
The cave was located by a British-led expedition in 2005 and subsequently surveyed and measured; infrastructure to allow public visits was installed and opened in the following years. Since opening, it has become a standard stop for visitors to the Phong Nha region.
Thien Duong sits within Phong Nha-Kẻ Bàng National Park in central Vietnam, on the karst plateau west of the coastal city of Đồng Hới and reached by road from nearby park entrances.
- Public access length: A developed visitor route of about 1 kilometre provides easy access to the main chamber and the most impressive formations; additional sections are accessible only with guides and permits.
What to See #
- Show-cave walkway: The main show-cave walkway installed when the cave was opened to visitors, allowing access along roughly 1 kilometre of the best-preserved chamber and formations.
- Wild passages: Wilder passages beyond the public route that extend further into the system and are visited only by caving teams or with special permission.
