The Museum of Innocence (museum)

The Museum of Innocence in Istanbul is a private museum created by novelist Orhan Pamuk and located in the Çukurcuma neighbourhood of Beyoğlu. It opened in 2012 and presents a physical collection that mirrors and extends the narrative of Pamuk’s novel “The Museum of Innocence.”

Exhibition displays arrange personal objects, photographs and domestic items into sequences that echo the structure of the book; the collection runs to thousands of small, everyday artifacts assembled to tell an emotional and social story. The museum also includes reading areas and spaces intended for reflection alongside the exhibits.

Orhan Pamuk conceived and founded the museum to accompany his novel; the institution was realized as an independent cultural space that blurs literature and museum display. The project was developed and opened in the 2010s as a private museum initiative.

The museum is located in Çukurcuma in the Beyoğlu district of Istanbul, within walking distance of Istiklal Avenue and Taksim Square, and is served by local tram and bus routes.
