Testa del Rutor Mountain

Testa del Rutor is a mountain in the Aosta Valley in the western Graian Alps, located above the Rutor Glacier. The summit and surrounding slopes form a popular area for alpine climbing, ski touring and glacier travel.

The mountain sits above a substantial glaciated basin and is approached from refuges and valleys in the Aosta Valley; routes include glacier crossings and mixed snow-ice climbs. It is typically visited by mountaineers and experienced ski tourers rather than casual hikers.

Geographically the peak is within the Aosta Valley autonomous region of northwestern Italy, near the ski and mountain communities on the Italian-French alpine frontier and accessible from valley roads and mountain passes in the area.
