How to Get to Terezín
Terezín (the fortress town) is a short trip northwest of Prague and is typically visited as a day trip from the capital. Prague's airports and rail/bus hubs provide the onward regional connections to Lovosice/Litoměřice and then local buses or taxis to Terezín.
Václav Havel Airport Prague (PRG): Prague is the nearest major international airport for Terezín. From PRG take public transit into Prague centre (Airport Express buses or AE/119 + metro) - the airport transfer is about 30-40 minutes and costs around 60-90 CZK (~€2.50-€4). From Prague’s main stations you can continue by regional bus or train to reach Terezín.
Other Czech airports: There are no commercial airports closer than Prague for general visitors to Terezín; Prague remains the practical international gateway.
Train: There is no direct train into the historic Terezín fortress itself. The nearest rail access is Lovosice station on the Prague-Ústí nad Labem line; from Lovosice it’s a short bus or taxi ride to Terezín (Lovosice-Terezín by taxi ~10 minutes).
Bus: Regional buses run from Prague (e.g., from ÚAN Florenc or railway stations with connections via Litoměřice/Lovosice) to Terezín. Journey times from Prague are about 50-75 minutes depending on route; regional bus fares are modest (typically a few dozen CZK, ~€1-€4). Check regional bus timetables for seasonal departures.
How to Get Around Terezín #
Terezín is very compact and flat, making it simple to explore on foot, especially the fortress and memorial sites. Buses connect Terezín with Litoměřice and other nearby towns; a car is handy for visiting the wider Ústí region. Walking is the best way to move around the fortress area, and most visitor sites are close to one another.
