Temple of Concord
Archaeological Site Ancient Roman temple in the Roman Forum
At the Roman Forum, the Temple of Concord stands among ruins and civic monuments; visitors combine it with the Forum walk to study Republican and Imperial-era architecture and Roman inscriptions.
The Temple of Concord is an ancient Roman temple in the area of the Roman Forum dedicated to the goddess Concordia. It occupies a central position near the Capitoline Hill and is part of the forum’s sequence of Republican and Imperial monuments.
Remains of the temple include portions of its podium, column bases and architectural fragments that are integrated into the Forum’s visible ruins. The site illustrates Roman religious architecture and the reuse and rebuilding practices of the late Republic and Imperial eras.
The temple originated in the Republican period and was rebuilt and restored at several points during Rome’s later history, reflecting the Forum’s long-term political and civic functions. Over time the structure underwent repairs and adaptations in successive periods rather than remaining a single unaltered monument.
The monument sits within the Roman Forum near the Capitoline Hill in central Rome, within walking distance of the Colosseum and other major archaeological sites in the city centre.
