Tell Qasile

Tell Qasile is an archaeological tell on the Yarkon River in the Tel Aviv District of Israel, with a multi-period sequence including Late Bronze Age and Iron Age occupation and notable temple remains.

Excavations revealed a planned temple complex and associated domestic areas; the site documents coastal-riverine settlement and material culture linked to both Canaanite and later Philistine-related phases. Finds from the site have been displayed in Israeli museums and contribute to understanding of the region’s coastal archaeology.

The tell was occupied in successive periods, with major building phases in the Late Bronze Age and Iron Age; archaeological work has exposed foundations, pottery assemblages and ritual architecture that illustrate changing cultural influences in the southern Levant.

The site sits on the southern bank of the Yarkon River estuary within the modern Tel Aviv-Yafo area, close to the Mediterranean coast.
