How to Get to Taxtakópir
Taxtakópir is a district town in Karakalpakstan best reached via Nukus, the regional hub. Most international travellers arrive in Tashkent and transfer by domestic flight or overland transport to Nukus, then take road transport to Taxtakópir.
Nukus Airport (NCU): Nukus is the closest airport with scheduled domestic flights from Tashkent and occasional regional services. From Nukus, you can reach Taxtakópir by taxi or shared car services; expect the drive to take around 2-3 hours depending on route and stopovers - prices for a taxi can range widely (roughly US$30-80) depending on negotiation and vehicle.
Tashkent International Airport (TAS): For international arrivals it’s common to fly into Tashkent and continue overland or on a domestic flight to Nukus. Domestic flights from Tashkent to Nukus take about 1-1.5 hours; flights and onward ground travel together typically make for a full day of travel to Taxtakópir.
Train: Uzbekistan has a national rail network; the nearest significant rail terminus for this region is Nukus or, for longer-distance routes, Urgench. Rail is useful for reaching Nukus but you will still need road transport to Taxtakópir. Check Uzbek Railways for schedules.
