Tauride Garden

Tauride Garden is the historic parkland surrounding the Tauride Palace in central Saint Petersburg, created in the late 18th century for Prince Grigory Potemkin. The garden retains elements of an English-style landscape with alleys, ponds and mature trees.

Walkways, open lawns and ornamental plantings are the main attractions for visitors; the park functions as a public green space next to the palace and hosts informal cultural activity. The layout offers tree-shaded promenades and views toward the palace façades.

The garden and palace were developed in the 1780s as part of the Tauride estate and subsequently opened to the public in later decades as the city expanded. Modifications over the 19th and 20th centuries added paths, monuments and recreational facilities while retaining the park’s historical core.

The garden sits in central Saint Petersburg close to the Tauride Palace and the city’s administrative centre, on the western side of the Neva’s central area. It is readily accessible from downtown by public transport.
